“I don’t see why we women should just wave our men a proud goodbye and then knit them balaclavas.” – Nancy Wake

There has been an explosion of female protagonists in literature and movies of late. This is a good thing, even if it does tend to rankle the idiot MRAs who see women as toys. Just to prove that a woman can be tough as nails, meet Nancy Wake, the woman the Gestapo called “The White Mouse” for her uncanny ability to evade capture. I’m sure killing an SS sentry with a single chop to the throat didn’t help her case in the eyes of the Nazis. Point being, if you’re looking for some historical female badasses, Nancy Wake is a good place to start.

For the final BIG THREE winners, I’d like to nominate:

John Hennesy

Nico Laeser

Millie Slavidou

    1. The only thing I find sad about the idea of a strong female character is it’s rare enough that we even have to talk about it. I’ve met plenty of strong women and more than I few that I wouldn’t want to tangle with.
